Tasa 790 012: which option to choose, how much to pay, and what proof to keep

Finding the form is easy. Do not select it simply because you have an NIE or TIE. The common mistake is choosing between first issue, renewal, long-term residence, or EU-family status. Start with the exact wording in your appointment or resolution.

Common mistakes to catch before paying

Most are not fixed by choosing another option at random. Keep any form or justificante and return to the exact wording of your procedure.

Paying Tasa 790 Código 052 for a fingerprint appointment
The 052 portal itself warns that a TIE or fingerprinting step uses Tasa 790 Código 012 and that 052 is not accepted for it.
Confusing first issue with renewal
Use the wording in your resolution or appointment. The generic name of the card does not identify the option.
Choosing temporary when the resolution says long-term
The duration recorded by the card changes the form line and the amount.
Selecting ‘Complementaria’ for the first payment
‘Principal’ is the initial payment. ‘Complementaria’ is for completing an earlier payment and asks for that justificante's details.
Using an amount from a blog or old screenshot
Fees are updated. Use the amount displayed by the official form on the day you generate it.
Keeping only the bank transaction
Keep the validated form or official electronic justificante. A bank transaction alone does not identify which procedure you paid for.

How do I choose and pay the right Modelo 790 Código 012 option?

  1. Find the phrase that defines your procedure

Look in the appointment or resolution for wording such as primera concesión, renovación, prórroga, larga duración, familiar de persona española, régimen comunitario, or asignación de NIE.

  2. Separate authorisation from issue of the card

Applying for a residence authorisation is not the same as issuing the TIE. For a TIE or fingerprinting appointment, the official portal says Tasa 790 Código 012, not 052.

  3. Open only the official Policía Nacional form

Find the option that means the same thing as your document and confirm the amount shown that day.

  4. Select ‘Principal’ unless you are completing an earlier payment

Use ‘Complementaria’ only when correcting an earlier payment and you have its justificante number and the amount already paid.

  5. Pay through an official route and keep the right proof

Follow the route offered for the procedure and keep the validated form or electronic justificante. Bring it when your appointment instructions require it.

Before generating or paying the form

Do not choose it simply because you have an NIE or TIE. The correct option comes from the exact wording of your appointment, resolution, or information sheet; having one of those documents does not by itself identify the code, option, or amount.

Generate the form once you know which procedure you are documenting. Then keep the form and justificante together so you can prove which option you paid.

  • Check whether you are at the authorisation stage or the card-issue stage.
  • Confirm the option and amount on the official portal on the day you generate the form.
  • Hide your NIE, passport, address, barcodes, and bank details before sharing a screenshot.

Questions about Tasa 790 Código 012

How much is the Modelo 790 Código 012?
It depends on the procedure. On July 10, 2026, the common TIE amounts shown were 16,08 € for first issue, 19,30 € for renewal, and 21,87 € for long-term residence. Confirm the current amount on the official form before paying.
Can I pay it online?
The optional online route has its own official conditions: electronic identification and a compatible bank. If you do not use it, Policía Nacional says you can present the payment document at banks, savings banks, or credit cooperatives without holding an account there. Always follow the current form and do not pay through third-party links.
Which justificante should I bring?
Bring the form validated by the payment entity or the official electronic justificante. Published Police procedures require proof of payment; keep a copy as well.
Do I use Tasa 790 Código 012 or 052 for a TIE and fingerprints?
For a TIE or fingerprinting: 012. Tasa 052 is a separate public-administration route for certain authorisations handled by Extranjería. You may need both at different stages, but one does not replace the other.
I paid the wrong option or code. What should I do?
Do not select ‘Complementaria’ or pay another difference on your own. Keep the justificante and ask the responsible authority how to correct the payment or request a refund. Do not assume it will transfer automatically.
