Spain immigration appointment: official cita previa route and confirmation

Start with the exact procedure and responsible authority. Oficina de Extranjería and Policía Nacional appointments share a service, but their instructions are not interchangeable.

How do I get a cita previa for extranjería?

  1. Identify the procedure and who must request it

Read the official procedure instructions before booking. Depending on the route, the requester may be the foreign citizen, an employer, a sponsor or an authorised representative; a card appointment and an authorisation application are not the same task.

  2. Open the official Sede Electrónica service

Use the government cita previa de extranjería directory and follow its current access to icpplus. Check the official domain before entering personal information or relying on a copied booking link.

  3. Choose the province, authority and exact procedure shown

Use the options the service currently offers. It distinguishes Oficina de Extranjería appointments from Policía Nacional procedures, and only enabled offices and procedures appear. Do not choose from a generic NIE or TIE label alone.

  4. Complete the current form and save the justificante

Enter only the details requested for that procedure, choose a slot currently displayed, confirm it and save the justificante with its number. That confirmation is the record you need to review or cancel the appointment.

  5. If no availability is shown

The official help says this means the office's appointments are currently occupied and to check again later. Availability depends on each office; it publishes no universal release schedule. For non-technical questions, it directs users to 060 or the responsible office.

Use this guide without confusing it with a booking service

Guiri does not find, reserve, monitor or predict appointments. The official service decides which offices, procedures and slots are available at that moment.

Keep the procedure name, appointment confirmation and any portal message together. Remove names, identity numbers, contact details and confirmation codes before sharing wording for help.

  • Match the appointment to the authority and exact procedure before entering personal data.
  • Save the justificante and its number after confirming.
  • Treat paid alerts or assistance as separate from the official appointment confirmation.

Common questions about cita previa

Why are there never any appointments?
The official help says the no-availability message means that office's current appointments are occupied and to check later. Availability depends on each office. The administration does not publish one universal day or time when every province releases slots.
Can I change or cancel an appointment online?
The official help says you can cancel through the appointment application using the same identifying details and the justificante number. It says contact-detail changes such as phone or email cannot be made there; contact the office instead.
Does paying a third party confirm my appointment?
No third-party promise or alert is the official appointment record. Use the government service and rely on its justificante for the office, date, time and procedure. Check any separate service's terms and do not share portal access or identity data unnecessarily.
