The clocks differ by route. For initial non-lucrative residence, enter Spain while the residence visa is valid and apply for the TIE within one month after entry. Long-duration study is an estancia, not a residence authorisation, and a TIE is required within one month after entry only when the authorised study stay exceeds six months.
