Requerimiento

A requerimiento is a formal request from a Spanish public authority asking the named recipient for information, documents, an explanation, or another specified action.

Plain English: formal demand / request

Definition

The exact notice and procedure control the response period, channel, requested material, and consequences; there is no universal ten-day rule for every requerimiento or authority. A timely response may satisfy the request, but it may also lead to a follow-up request, a proposed assessment, or another resolution. Read the complete notice and use the response route it names.

  • Identify the authority, recipient, procedure or file number, requested material, and exact response period.
  • Use the channel named in the notice and save the submitted response and filing receipt.
  • If more time is needed, check whether that procedure permits an extension and request it before the stated period expires.

Example: an AEAT request for invoice evidence and a municipal request to correct an application can share the word requerimiento while using different clocks, portals, and next decisions.

Where this appears

Requerimiento can appear in Spanish forms, appointment screens, official letters, PDF instructions, receipts, or portal status messages. This term usually appears in AEAT or Hacienda notices. Pay attention to the issue date, response window, reference number, tax year, and whether the notice asks for payment, documents, clarification, or an appeal.

Use the term as a clue, not the whole answer. A public definition can explain the usual meaning, but a personal document may change the deadline, office route, evidence required, or risk of ignoring the message.
