DNIe is Spain's national identity card for Spanish citizens; its chip can support electronic identification and signature.

Definition

Its chip contains authentication and signature certificates. Electronic use requires valid certificates and PIN plus compatible software and a card reader or a supported NFC device or app; the public service must also accept certificate access. A TIE is a different document and does not provide the same DNIe certificates, so foreign residents should follow the access methods named by the service.
